Singapore Blogger Roy Ngerng Has to Pay Country\’s PM S$180k for Defamation

Singapore blogger Roy Ngerng wrote on his blog, The Heart Truths, an update on his defamation case against Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong.

\”Hello everyone, this is an update to the defamation suit with the prime minister.

I have to pay a total of S$180,000. (I have to pay him S$150,000 in damages and S$30,000 for the costs of the hearing.)\”

On his blog he also thank his lawyer Eugene Thuraisingam for helping him reach a settlement over his defamation case. Roy also mention that he is glad that his writings open a conversation on the CPF/Central Provident Fund. CPF is a compulsory comprehensive savings plan for working Singaporeans and permanent residents primarily to fund their retirement, healthcare, and housing needs. He glad that after he wrote about CPF, some enhancements were made to the CPF.

Now Roy tries to raise a fundraising to close his settlement. If you want to donate, please transfer to the bank account at POSB Savings Bank Account 130-23068-7 (Ngerng Yi Ling).
